Happy 2026 everyone! It’s that time of year when I announce my new blogging schedule and inform all of you lovely readers about some changes to the blog. Sometimes the changes are light, other times they’re heavy–and this year is experiencing the heaviest changes I’ve made yet!

The Changes:
As you can see for one, I’ve changed my entire color scheme, going from pink and blue to red and gold. I’ve also updated my little author picture (although it’s still just an avatar of me haha) and my About Me.
Besides the face-lift I’ve given my website, there are also going to be content changes. While I plan for my blogging schedule to remain mostly the same (bi-monthly posts), what I am focusing on will change.
From the birth of my blog, I wrote mostly writing tips, an occasional short story, and bookish things. My content targeted lovely people like me–other writers. And while I’m going to continue to write some writing tips and updates (more on that in a moment), these topics are no longer going to be the major focus of my blog.
The new focus of my blog is, if you couldn’t guess from my updated tagline, all things medieval! This includes historical posts, random medieval facts, medieval fantasy and historical novel spotlights and reviews–anything and everything medieval (whether historical or fantasy).
I’m quite excited about this new venture and already have several ideas in the works I’m excited to share with you. However, I’m always open to ideas, so if you see or hear about a certain medieval topic that you’re curious about or want to know more about (maybe it’s a historical figure I mention in passing or a stereotype about the time period you’ve heard), let me know by commenting on a post or contacting me and I’ll see what I can do!
A few of the upcoming series on the blog include:
- Inspiring Events
- Medieval Heirs (Who Never Ruled)
- Ranking History
- Medieval Women
Let me know which one sounds the most interesting to you!
The Future of my Writing Tips and Updates:
As I mentioned above, I am not giving up posting writing tips or updates of my own writing. However, most of these will now be taking place on my newsletter, which I am rebooting this year! I know for certain my newsletter subscribers will receive one post quarterly, showcasing my writing updates, and as time permits, I will post a tip or other writing-related subject there. There will be some exceptions, such as guest posts and perhaps a topic I feel is better suited for the blog over my newsletter, but for the most part, all writing-related posts will now be emailed to subscribers via my newsletter.
If you’re already subscribed to my blog, don’t worry! You should receive a note today that you’ve automatically been signed up for my newsletter. What About my Book Reviews?
Now, typically this is the time in my schedule posts where I announce my to-be-read titles for the year, a book a month I write a review on.
This is yet another change I am making to the blog. I have discovered that I am very much a mood reader–what I’m interested in at the beginning of the year, I may not be in the mood for at the end. Forcing myself to read a book I don’t want to read can make me unfairly biased against the book and send me into a reading slump, so I find it’s best to wait until I’m in the right mood to read certain books. That being said, this is one reason I will not be making a to-read list for the year in 2026.
Yet another reason I am choosing not to, however, will affect my book review schedule. While I am still planning on releasing a book review every month, the timing may vary, and that is because I am planning on mostly doing book tours as a part of my reviews rather than generic reviews. Why is this? Well, partly because as an aspiring author, I know how important it is to launch (or relaunch) one’s book is for an author, and how valuable having readers and reviewers can be. Thus, I hope to provide you all with great book recommendations and reviews while also helping an author kickstart their book! And most of these tours have an accompanying book giveaway, which is an added bonus for all you readers!
A final note concerning the books I will be reviewing is, like my blog, they will have something to do with the medieval time period. Maybe it’ll just a medieval setting, like a medieval fantasy. Maybe it’ll actually be a historical novel. Or even a historical non-fiction. But it’ll have some sort of medieval lean to it. That being said, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to find a medieval leaning book to join a book tour on. If that is the case, I will pick a medieval novel or non-fiction to review from my bookshelf. But I’m hoping to join as many book tours as possible this year to showcase some great new medieval reads.
So what do you think? Are you excited for this new content and subject change? Have you signed up for my newsletter? (If you have any issues with the sign-up, please let me know.)
Do you have any post suggestions or medieval questions you’d like to see a post on? For all you writers amongst my readers, I’ve lightly played with the concept of hosting a medieval writing contest (which would include fiction, non-fiction, fantasy and historical genres, anything with a medieval slant to it). Would this be something you’d be interested in?
Let me know in the comments below. I’m excited to share these new developments with you! ~ Kay Adelin
