2025 Fourth Quarter Writing Update + Yearly Stats

It’s time for my last writing update of 2025. Yes, I usually wait until after the quarter has ended to post these updates, as there is still another day and a half left in the year which could possibly see some writing action, but, well, the blog is going to be experiencing some major changes come 2026, where I won’t be posting these type posts. (Don’t worry, writing updates and tips will still be available elsewhere, and I have an exciting announcement coming out in 2026 concerning my writing!) But I’m getting ahead of myself–look for the first post in the new year to discover all the changes and how to access my writing tips and updates.

If you’d like to read my first, second, and third quarterly writing updates, click herehere, and here. As a reminder, the stories which I have a single asterisk beside are those which are referenced in my first post. Therefore, I will not be going into an explanation of what they’re about. Instead, refer to the original post for their descriptions.

Writing Update: October-December

  • Nothing As Is Seems: A YA Romantasy*
  • Faith Steadfast: A Christian YA Non-magical Fantasy*
  • Other Random Projects (Blog posts and Character Profiles)

Nothing As It Seems

A prince with a reputation for killing his knights, and his bodyguard who may be working with the assassin out to kill him, have to join forces against a group targeting them both in a kingdom where nothing is as it seems.

Honestly, I only worked on this story for the first fifteen days of October and haven’t looked at it since for a whole whopping 11.5k words. But the reason is, I am excited to announce, I finally finished the rough draft! If you’d like to see the funny little post I did in celebration for it, check out my Insta account.

I’m really looking forward to editing this in the New Year, and hopefully sometime late next year send out a call for beta readers! I posted the full blurb and comparable titles on the third quarter’s post, so feel free to check that out if this story sounds like something which interests you!

Faith Steadfast

Thrust from luxury, family, and everything he’s known in one traumatic night, Brenton Rochefort, 6th Grand Duke of Kithage, finds himself hunted with only his father’s seal and the treacherous Herbert Langton’s wrath for identity. Forced to lower himself to the position of a common esquire and an assumed name, he struggles with adjusting to the inferior treatment while dealing with his personal grief and fighting to stay hidden–and alive.

This became the bulk of my writing during the rest of October to the present. I absolutely love this story, and honestly had such a fun time writing it this quarter, and a few days reminded me of the type of writing I did in late high-school, early college where I could chew out 3k+ words in one sitting. Which was surprising since the holidays surrounded it and I work retail on top of it. So it was quite nice, and I definitely feel this manuscript has a lot of potential!

Unsurprisingly, I got around 33.5k words written in it this quarter, getting myself past a major plot point, and close to or over halfway (I’m a pantser, I don’t know for certain, haha!).

Other Random Projects

I worked a lot this quarter on preparing my blog for next year’s changes, as I usually do around this time of year. However, since my blog is going to undergo the largest change since its existence, I worked a whole lot more than usual on it. I’m excited to share these changes with you all soon.

I also worked a lot on making character profiles on Milanote for some for-fun characters I’m writing an allegorical story about by hand when I’m tired or before bed. Here’s a picture of the main character’s profile below.

If you’re interested in checking Milanote out yourself, you can do so here!

Obviously I didn’t write down exactly how many words I wrote on these two projects combined, but I averaged it to be about 25k words altogether.

Total Quarterly Word Count: ~ 70k

Average Words Written Per Month: ~ 23k

Yearly Stats:

First Quarter: ~ 54.5k words

Second Quarter: ~ 77k words

Third Quarter: ~54k words

Fourth Quarter: ~70k words

Total Yearly Word Count: ~255.5k

Average Words Written Per Month: ~21k

Well, that’s it for now! What have you accomplished in the last quarter of 2025? Do you have writing goals for 2026? If you’re a reader, let me know how many books you want to read next year! God bless. ~ Kay Adelin
