Announcement: Medieval Writing Contest!

Yes, you are reading the title correctly! I am excited to be hosting my very first ever story contest on the blog! When thinking of a theme, I, of course, had to pick medieval, since that is the focus of my blog now. But even if you don’t write medieval historical fiction or fantasy, don’t turn away! There’s still a place for you in this contest too!

Now, there is no payment for winning this contest. However, the winning story will be featured on the blog, along with the author’s bio, socials, and links to newsletters and blogs, if desired. I will also provide brief feedback on each story submitted.

Submission Guidelines:

• Keep things clean and appropriate, please. This means no explicit content, no foul language, no witchcraft, and no gore. I can handle PG-13 level violence, but keep it YA appropriate.
• Submit only one entry. Give yourself the best shot you can by self-editing your work before submitting it.
• Entries should be no longer than 6,000 words–preferably shorter.
• Entries can be any genre except horror, but they must have some medieval element within them. This includes medieval fantasy, historical fiction, romance, and even contemporary or non-medieval historical. (See my review on The White Knights for a good way to include medieval elements in a contemporary or non-medieval setting story).
• Deadline to submit is September 2nd. The winning story shall be posted on October 14th (fittingly on the 960th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings!)
