Birthstone Book Covers Tag: December 2025

Yup, I’m back with another tag, haha. I’m just going to call this the month of tags at this point. Anyway, this is a fun one focusing on book cover colors! And since this is December, I’ll be focusing on book covers that are this turquoise-y blue color, matching December’s birthstones’s colors. A huge shoutout and thanks to Journey Bloomfield for tagging me for this!

The Rules:

  • Mention the creator (Leslie @ Books Are The New Black ) and link back to me so I can see your post!
  • Pick 5+ book covers that match the current month’s Birthstone.
  • HAVE FUN!
  • Nominate people if you want!

Book #1: Summer of Blood by Dan Jones

You know I had to add this one into the mix somehow, haha! Well, either this one or Dan Jones’s Wars of the Roses one, both of which have a similar blue cover. It has sort of that zircon color in the middle! And it’s a great book on Britain’s first ever popular revolt–my review of which you can read here!

Book #2: A Crown of Snow and Ice by Melanie Cellier

This was a pretty good fairytale retelling of the Snow Queen! I found a few parts of the story odd and a bit contrived, but still immensely enjoyed it, albeit not as much as the first two books in the series. I would definitely recommend it for clean, Christian fairytale lovers.

Book #3: Rise of the Vicious Princess by C. J. Redwine

I quite enjoyed this political YA fantasy, although at times I felt it went a tad slow. It’s actually a comp for my own current romantasy WIP, so there’s also that! If you enjoy royal politics, fights over thrones, and assassinations and betrayals packed into one clean fantasy novel, this is certainly the book for you!

Book #4: Domesday Book

Everyone who knows what this is probably thinks I’m an absolute geek for wanting to read this–and they’re probably right. The Domesday book is essentially one giant census record of post-Conquest Britain, ordered by William the Conquerer and compiled originally in 1086. It holds valuable information about what life was like in Britain during that time, so I look forward to reading it to gather more information on medieval England!

Book #5: Recruit of Talionis by C. J. Milacci

I’m not usually a huge fan of post-apocalyptic dystopian novels, but Recruit of Talionis really surprised me and earned a five star review from me! If you’d like to read my full review of the book, you can do so here!

It looks like most of my books took after the Tanzanite stone rather than the other two… but hey, they have some lighter turquoise in some of them!

And the tags!

Hannah Ruth Johnson @ Faith, Fiction, & Fairytales

Sara Ann @ sparkle girl

Cate @ Southern Scribblings

Annabelle @ Pen & Ink

As always, this is an optional tag so if you don’t want to do it, don’t worry about it! And take all the time you need, haha.

Have any of you read these books? What did you think about them? Let me know in the comments below! ~ Kay Adelin

    1. No problem! The nice thing about this tag is it can be done at any time!
All of them are quite good! (Except I guess I can’t say anything about the Domesday Book since I haven’t read that but I doubt many people other than medieval geeks WILL 😂)
