The Christmas Writer’s Tag

So a long time ago now (okay, three years ago), when my blog was just a baby, I tried to make a Christmas Writing Tag. Unfortunately, I didn’t know many bloggers at that point, so it didn’t really take off. But since I’ve been doing all these tags lately and since I know a lot more bloggers now than I used to, I figured I’d try once more to start up this tag and see what happens!

Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you and leave a link to their blog. (Thank you me, haha!)
  • Use the graphic (optional)
  • List the rules.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Write the questions down for reference for the next person.
  • Tag as many or few people as you like.

Question #1:  Have you ever written (or are you writing) a Christmas story? If so, what was (or is) it about?

I did write a Christmas story a long time ago to give to my grandma for Christmas. I remember it was about this candle that somehow got passed between these people on Christmas Eve and eventually brought them all together. I’ve also written many Christmas shorts connected to my pre-existing novels. One I just recently wrote employed some medieval Christmas traditions which was fun!

Question #2: Is Christmas celebrated in any of your stories?

It is celebrated in most of my stories, but I don’t know if it’s actually within the story. So like, in the culture I know they’d celebrate it, but seeing the characters celebrate it in my actual novel? I may put my above-mentioned medieval Christmas traditions short into its actual story, but I’m not sure yet.

Question #3: Are any of your characters born on Christmas?

Yes, I do know I’ve given some of my characters Christmas birthdays!

Question #4: Do you have any characters who DON’T celebrate Christmas? Why?

I don’t think I personally do. Not that I’ve questioned them all as to their Christmas celebrating traditions. But it would be fascinating to see someone who doesn’t and ask why.

Question #5: In your story world, what importance is placed on Christmas socially?

Again, most of my stories don’t have Christmas directly in them, but since their culture is styled off of medieval culture, Christmas is certainly an important event and a good excuse to party and celebrate regardless of what else is going on in the world.

Question #6: Have you ever written on Christmas?

I’m pretty sure I have at some point or another, haha! Even if it’s just a sentence or two or a role play with a friend.

Question #7: What is your favorite writing-related Christmas gift you’ve ever received? (It can be a book (and if so, name the book and how it related to your writing), notebooks, pens, paper, etc)

Goodness, there’s been a lot. I remember getting my first iPad for Christmas one year, which helped speed my writing process up immensely. I also remember several books I’ve gotten over the years–one, To Birmingham Castle by Alicia Willis, I remember inspiring me to work more of my medieval style world.

Question #8: What is your favorite writing memory which is associated with the Christmas holiday?

This one has stayed the same for years. I remember finishing the first draft of one of my old WIPs, and the day I finished it, we were putting up Christmas trees. I vividly remember my mom getting out the lights and putting them on the tree just as I finished writing “the end” on my first draft.

Question #9: Have you ever gifted someone one of your stories for Christmas?

As I mentioned above, I gave my grandma a story once for Christmas. I also often write little shorts for my friends for their Christmas gifts, because, do you know how expensive it is to ship things anymore?

Question #10: Have any Christmas novels you’ve read ever affected your writing? If so, how?

I feel like I’m going to be a Grinch here, but no. I’ve honestly not read many Christmas novels. They’re just not my thing, I guess, so they haven’t gotten the chance to affect my writing.
