March Scripture: Psalms 56:3-4

Hey everyone! I haven’t done a scripture verse on here in forever, so I decided this week to do one! My family and I are reading through the Bible in a year, and this scripture is one of the verses I picked to discuss in our family devotional time!

Psalms 56:3-4 NLT

But when I am afraid,
I will put my trust in you.
I praise God for what he has promised.
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me?

When feelings of fear come, the best thing to do is to go to God with them. Because we live in a fallen world, we will experience feelings of fear. However, if we trust in the Lord, we don’t have to be afraid.

Why? Because of what He’s promised.
If we fear rejection, He has promised He will never leave us or forsake us (Deut 31:6).

If we fear sickness, He has said by His stripes we were healed (Isa 53:5; 1 Pet 2:24).

If we fear death, He has promised us eternal life with Him (John 3:16).

If we fear poverty, He has called Himself our Shepherd, and we shall not want (Psa 23:1)

For everything we go through, the Lord has the answer. So instead of fearing, we should take it to Him, who does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7).

God bless you all! ~ Kay Adelin
