Hey there! I’m Kay Adelin, first and foremost a Christian, but also an aspiring author, British medieval history geek, and a literary agent intern with a bachelors in creative writing.
Here on the blog, I write book reviews, writing tips, and medieval historical posts. Starting in 2026, the blog will be focusing majorly on medieval history posts, and most (but not all!) of my writing tips and updates will be moved to my newsletter, which I will hopefully have rebooted in January of 2026. If you’re already signed up for the blog–don’t worry! You’ll be automatically signed up to my newsletter as well, and can unsubscribe at any time. If you’re not signed up but want to be, please go to my Sign Up page and scroll down to my newsletter link!
And of course, if you ever want me to do a post on a certain writing tip, medieval historical topic, or book review on something in particular, feel free to contact me or just comment on any post or on Facebook, X, or Instagram. I love to hear from you all!
Some (updated!) fun facts about me:
My favorite animals are cats. I have seven of them and love them all.
I’m low-key obsessed with anything medieval (as if you couldn’t have guessed). History, books, movies, you name it. (And if I see anything remotely hint towards the Legends of King Arthur, you can be sure I’ll be interested!)
The last part of my author name “Adelin” was inspired by the historical figure William Adelin, the heir of Henry I of England. Search up the White Ship disaster to learn about him.
Currently, my favorite fiction book is Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer. I love the medieval fantasy politics, the drama, and even the romance is decent! (I cannot recommend the rest of the books in the trilogy, however, due to content).
Prior Favorite Fiction Book Position Holder: The Honorable Imposter by Gilbert Morris. It’s a Christian Historical fiction about the Pilgrims and the Mayflower and the start of a forty book series.
My favorite non-fiction book currently right now is Dan Jones’s The Wars of the Roses. It’s entertaining and informative, and I appreciate that he put all the sources in the back of the book. Highly recommend.
I have two characters who have been special to me for a very long time. For the longest time, my favorite character of all time was Walter Blythe from the Anne of Green Gables series, specifically in the books Anne of Ingleside, Rainbow Valley, and Rilla of Ingleside. I’ve also always loved Sir Galahad in Le Morte d’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory.
My personality is an INTJ-A, which is the rarest type for women. Not all the stereotypes define me, as everyone is different, but I’ve found many which are eerily accurate.
I love to write historical fantasy, which is fantasy with minimal to no magic, set in a historical-like setting. But I’ve also dabbled in urban fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary, historical fiction, and most every other genre except horror.
