The Get to Know Me Tag

Hey everyone! Awhile back, one of my blogger friends did this tag, and it intrigued me. Since I’ve been so busy lately and had nothing planned for the blog, I decided it might be kinda fun!

The rules:

  • link back to the tag creator (Savannah Grace)
  • thank the person who tagged you (I wasn’t tagged but I got the idea from Marisa Phillips from Sisters Three, so thank you!)
  • share the tag graphic (optional) Just decided not to do it lol!
  • tag 11 bloggers (Yeaaahh I don’t know that many so whoever wants to do it, I tag you XP)

Vital Stats & Appearance:

(Pen) Name: Kay Adelin

Birthday: I just had it a few days ago. That’s all I’m going to say.

Hair color and length: I feel like this is like a character profile chart haha! It’s brownish red and past my shoulders.

Eye Color: Sapphire blue, and I love them.

Braces/Piercings/Tattoos: I have braces right now but hopefully will get them off soon! No piercings and tattoos and I will never get them.

Righty or Lefty: Righty all the way! Though I have tried writing some with my left hand and can do so with the dexterity of a five year old.

Ethnicity: American, but if we’re being technical… German, Irish, French, British, Scandinavian… pretty much European.

Firsts:

First Novel Written: Well, if we’re basing this off of time started, it would be a story based on Hot Wheel cars my brother and I played with. I actually still like the story, though I’d never show it to anyone outside my family, haha!

First Novel Completed: My first novel completed was a story about a boy and a wagon, inspired by my fourth grade English assignment. Honestly, lengthwise it wouldn’t be considered a novel, but its the first story I completed so I’m counting it as that.

Award for Writing: As of yet, I have received two honorable mentions for my short sci-fi story, Fireflies!

Publication: Since I am going the traditional publishing route, it may take me a little longer than a self-published person to get published, but I’m trusting in God to bring it to pass!

Conference: Never been to one, but I really want to attend one!

Query/Pitch: Oh yes. I’ve done this quite a few times now, between novel pitches and magazine submissions.

Favorites:

Genre: To read, probably historical fiction, but I also like fantasy, adventure–anything set in the medieval times. To write: fantasy, but not high fantasy. I prefer historical fantasy or light fantasy, with things similar to the real world (meaning a ton of strange creatures and magical elements aren’t for me).

Author: Right now I like Gilbert Morris. I also enjoy L.M Montgomery and C.S. Lewis. It takes a lot to impress me, so I don’t have too many favorites.

Writing Music: Now this I have a lot of. It depends on the story, but my go-to instrumental music channels on Youtube are HDsounDI, Fox Sailor, Audiomachine, and a couple artists are Peter Crowley and Thomas Bergersen.

Time to Write: Whenever I can, really. But usually my best time comes at night, around 9-12.

Writing Snack/Drink: I don’t usually eat or drink while writing, but sometimes I’ll just have my lunch or dinner while writing to keep going.

Movie: The Crusades (1935) that Cecil B. DeMille directed! It’s my all time favorite right now. Close second is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I also enjoy the Star Wars series (the first six; let’s ignore the last three disasters), the Toymaker’s Dream play, and animated movies like the Cars movies (1 & 2).

Writing Memory: Honestly, I’m not sure, there’s a lot. One is when I got the idea for my favorite series I’ve written. Another is when a friend unknowingly helped me doom my villain to death. And I really enjoyed writing through a story I’ve had on my mind since 2018 in one month last December.

Childhood Book: I read so many books when I was a kid I honestly can’t remember. If we’re talking little kid books, I remember really liking Dick and Jane. As a tween, I got into Lamplighter books, and the book True to the Last really impacted me and made me want to become a writer.

Currently:

Reading: The King’s Scrolls by Jaye L. Knight. I don’t know how to feel about it yet, and it’s going a little slow. I’m not a big fan of dragons and I’m not liking the hinted romance haha! I’m also working on the Spy x Family manga series and I’m really enjoying that!

Writing: I am finishing editing a YA novel. As for actually writing, I started a story I’m writing on the side of my main projects called Whispers in the Wind. Tell me what you think of it’s current elevator pitch: An amnesic prince joins a mercenary trying to track down his own murderer.

Listening to: The Southwest Believer’s Convention! You need to check it out if you haven’t!

Watching: Also the Southwest Believer’s Convention! But if you’re talking about movies/tv shows, I am working my way through the Spy x Family anime with my mom.

Learning: I’m always learning. Lately I’ve been learning about agents, properly querying them, and writing synopses, those annoying things.

Future:

Want to be published: Yes! I believe God has gifted me and called me to write, and I know He will bring it to pass!

Indie or Traditional: Traditional all the way. Like Jerry Jenkins says, why pay for your work to be published when you can be paid for your work to be published?

Wildest Goal: Um, I suppose if this means like, a dream, I’d like to someday work as a literary agent or acquisitions editor. I’d also like my books to be New York Times bestsellers with movies and/or TV shows being made of them!

Conclusion:

Thanks for reading this! Now that you know a little about me, tell me a little about you! What writing project are you currently working on? What color is your eyes? What is your wildest goal? Let me know in the comments below! God bless! ~ Kay Adelin
